Phase 1–4, Ruby, Sapphire, Black Pearl and Emerald — why identical listings differ by thousands of euros.
Doppler and Gamma Doppler finishes come in distinct phases — variants with different colour compositions that share one market listing name. Two "identical" Doppler knives can differ in price by a factor of ten because of their phase.
Gems trade at large multiples of the regular phases; among the standard phases, Phase 2 (Doppler) is typically the most sought after for its pink playside.
Steam market names do not include the phase — "★ Karambit | Doppler (Factory New)" covers all variants. The phase is determined by the pattern index and is visible from the item's icon. Skinventory detects phases automatically on import, and you can check any inventory with the free Doppler Phase Checker.
Because public price feeds rarely separate phases, Skinventory prices phases from the Doppler floor with calibrated premiums and labels them as estimates. Gems with exceptional patterns trade above any estimate.
Phases are colour variants of the Doppler and Gamma Doppler finishes. Doppler has Phase 1–4 plus Ruby, Sapphire and Black Pearl; Gamma Doppler has Phase 1–4 plus Emerald.
Sapphire and Ruby are typically the most expensive Doppler variants, followed by Black Pearl. Among regular phases, Phase 2 usually commands the highest premium.
The phase isn't in the item name — it's determined by the pattern. Skinventory's free Doppler Phase Checker reads it from your inventory automatically.
